Common Issues

Quick fixes for the problems merchants hit most often. If none of these solve it, see the FAQ or email support@merchinary.com.

My layers don't line up in the preview

The Image Editor assumes all your layer PNGs share the same canvas size and alignment. If a layer looks shifted:

  • Re-export the layer so its canvas matches your other layers (same dimensions, same origin).
  • Remember the cap: layers over 2048×2048 are scaled down uniformly. As long as every layer shares dimensions, they stay aligned after scaling.

A cell has a red warning border

That bucket's variants currently use different images, so one composite will replace all of them. Open the warning to see exactly which images would be replaced. If that's not what you want, narrow your scope (or your dedup dimension) so each bucket really does share one image.

"Apply scope" picked up the wrong products

Scope is frozen when you click Apply scope. To change it, click Discard and start a new edit with a different filter — scope can't be edited in place (this is what keeps your buckets stable). Use the view filter if you only want to narrow what the grid shows without changing what gets applied.

I can't arm my scheduled/recurring edit — it says there's a conflict

Another armed or live edit would own the same variants during an overlapping time window, which would corrupt revert snapshots. The message names the other edit and a sample overlapping window. To resolve:

  • Change this edit's date/time so the windows don't overlap, or
  • Narrow this edit's scope so it doesn't touch the same variants, or
  • Revert or cancel the other edit.

Edits on the same product but different colors don't conflict.

My upload was blocked

You've hit your plan's Asset Library cap. Delete assets you no longer need to free space, or upgrade your plan. See Plans & limits.

My apply was blocked at the limit

Image applies count toward your shared monthly job limit (with bulk edits) and your products-per-job limit. The Create Job modal shows how close you are, with an upgrade link. See Plans & limits.

The new image isn't on my product yet

Applying is asynchronous: each composite is uploaded to Shopify and must reach "ready" before it's attached. Watch the apply results page for live progress. Large applies are paced by Shopify's per-shop rate limits.

After applying (KEEP mode), I see both old and new images on the product

That's expected in KEEP revert mode — the old image stays in the product gallery (detached from variants) so revert can re-attach it instantly. To keep the gallery clean instead, use CLEAN mode next time, or revert/remove the old image. See Applying & reverting.

A PSD layer won't import

Only raster layers can be imported. Text, vector, adjustment, and smart-object layers are shown greyed out — flatten or rasterize them in Photoshop first. Very large PSDs may also be blocked if decoding every layer at once would use too much memory; split or flatten the file. See Importing from PSD.
